Dear friends, As we approach the end of our year long online programme exploring the "Art of Concentration", we have two really nice open events coming up before Christmas to end the year with. Introducing the Bramhaviharas - Online Weekend RetreatThis is a weekend online intensive retreat introducing "The 4 Immeasurable States", of Love, Compassion, Appreciation and Equanimity. As the authentic expression of enlightened mind, these practices lie right at the heart of the Buddha's Dharma and indeed all spiritual paths. Over the course of the weekend I will explain the essence of all 4 practices and give guided instructions on how to do the meditations upon them. Not only are these meditations a fundamental part of the Buddha's gradual path, they are the core of the whole ethos of Bodhicitta ( compassionate enlightened intent) which is the very starting point of the Mahayana and Tibetan Vajrayana paths. I will explain the role of each one in context to both approaches to the path as well as explore how they form the pivot for the notion of taking 'Love as the Path,' according to the system that I teach personally. I am sure this will be a very special weekend and one that all of you who are seriously committed to your own practice will not want to miss. To join live you can register using the link below. If you are unable to join I will share some of the highlights after the event on my Patreon site. Day 1 - Saturday 6th December, 9.30am - 5.00pm (UK time) We will have regular breaks and 90mins for lunch. Registration admin fee - £50
This is a live online retreat which can be followed by any, regardless of where you live and in what time zone. We suggest that those who live outside of Europe, follow in their own time zone. Videos will be left available for a few days to allow time to catch-up. Mettathon Charity FundraiserFollowing on from our "4 Immeasurables" weekend, we will then host our annual 12 hour live 'Mettathon' in aid of the orphanages we support. This is always a wonderful community event whether you may chose to join us at one of our venues or follow along through our un-interrupted 12 hour live online broadcast. Please save the date 13th December 2025. We will send out registration details for this in the coming weeks. sending you all much love Burgs |
Dear friends, Below is a message from Burgs for you. It is a little long, but we hope you can take the time to read it. It details the rationale behind the current changing landscape in which we find ourselves and how Burgs and the Art of Meditation is responding to these changes. Sending you all much metta The AoM Team Dear friends, I hope this email finds you all well. It's been a while since I wrote to you all so now I have a few days between retreats I want to update you on developments...
Dear friends, I thought would write personally to you this month with a brief update on what's been happening and what's coming up at AoM. We have just finished our first Thangka Drawing and Devotional practices retreat in Portugal. It was a really special and unique event and something I will definitely be repeating next year as it gave me an opportunity to share teachings that I don't often have the chance to share. The combination of devotion, art and meditation proved to be a profoundly...
Dear friends, Now that summer is in full swing, we would like to update you on our schedule for the rest of the year at our amazing new retreat venue, Brahma Vihara, in Portugal. One aspect to the vision behind opening this dedicated retreat centre is to create new opportunities to work in a more intimate environment than our large UK based retreats can offer. In particular we are hoping to appeal to those wishing to connect and develop a deeper connection to their practice and the healing...
